How do I upload my photos?

Uploading your photos at smilebooksonline.com is quick and easy. Log into your account and click on ‘Add Photos’ at the top to get to the image uploader.

On the upploader, you have options to upload images from your computer, or to import images from your accounts on Flickr, Picasa and FaceBook. You can upload the images into an existing album, or into a new album, as you desire. Click on ‘Browse’ for photos, select the images you want to upload in the browse window and click ‘Upload’. You can upload multiple images at the same time.

When the upload is complete, a message will give you the summary of the upload process. You can view the uploaded images, or you can upload even more images.

How long does it take to upload my photos?

The duration of a photo upload is dependent on the size of the photo and the speed of your Internet connection.

Is there a minimum/maximum number of pages in a photo book?

Yes, there is a minimum and maximum number of pages for each book and are listed below. The book builder will not allow you delete any pages less than the minimum required. Neither can you add more pages than the maximum allowed. If you decide to use less than the minimum number of pages, those pages will remain as part of your book and will be blank.

Mini Smilebook: 26 pages minimum/98 pages maximum
Classic Smilebook: 26 pages minimum/130 pages maximum
Deluxe Smilebook: 26 pages minimum/130 pages maximum

Can you add and delete pages?

‘Add’ and ‘Delete’ buttons are available on the bottom outer corners of each page in the book builder.

Keep in mind that you cannot delete pages less than the minimum required, and you cannot add pages more than the maximum allowed in a photo book.

If you delete a page, you are deleteing the 2-page spread that you are currently on.

If you add a page to your book, you are adding a 2-page spread.

• If you click the ‘Add’ button on the left page, a 2-page spread is added behind the left page
• If you click the ‘Add’ button on the right page, a 2-page spread is added after the right page

Currently, we are only able to add pages in sets of 8 to an existing photo book. So you can add 8, 16, 24, 32 pages and so on, to your photo book until we reach the maximum number of pages in a photo book.

What are the steps in creating a photo book?

There are distinct steps to initiate the creation of the photo book.

1. Click on the respective button to start creating a personal photo book or a community photo book, as you desire
2. Select the category for the photo book, for example, holiday, kids etc.
3. Enter the book title and description
4. Select the photo book size
5. Select the photo book cover type and color
6. Start building your photo book

What are the tools and options available in creating a photo book?

Smilebooksonline.com has a variety of tools and options available to make the photo book creation process simple and fun.

• All your albums are organized at the bottom of the book builder, along with any albums shared to you by other users, available backgrounds, layouts, clipart and text options.
• You can navigate into each of your albums to select the photos you want to use in the photo book.
• To place a photo on a page, just click on it and drag it on to the photo book page using your mouse to the desired position.
• Once the photo is on the page, you can scale it, rotate it or move it anywhere on the page.
• You can also zoom it and pan the photo in the image frame on the page.
• You can set the photo to be the background on a page
• You can also set a photo to the background on a 2-page spread
• You can select any background that is available in the ‘Backgrounds’ tab and place it on the photo book page.
• You can also select pre-defined layouts available in the ‘Layouts’ tab and drag your photos into the image frames on the layouts. But even these image frames can be manipulated free-hand if you wish to do so.
• You can navigate into each of your albums to select the photos you want to use in the photo book.
• You can add text on your pages too. Just go to the ‘Text’ tab and drag a text box to your desired location. We offer multiple fonts and wide range of colors to choose from. You can rotate the text and move it anywhere on the page in the photo book.

Are there resolution limits on photos used in a photo book?

If you are using a photo with low resolution on a page, a warning symbol will show in the top right hand corner of the photo. You can then decide if you want to keep the photo there, or replace the photo with one that has higher resolution.

Can you share your photo book with friends?

At any time, you can share your photo book with friends and family by clicking the ‘Show to a Friend’ link on the book builder, entering their emails and click ‘Submit’. Your friends will get an email with a link to the preview of your photo book. They can view your photo book by clicking on the link.

Can you work with your friends in creating a photo book?

Smilebooksonline.com has a great feature called ‘Community Photo book’. You can invite your friends and family to collaborate on the photo book by contributing their own images and efforts to build the photo book. You can invite other users to collaborate on your photo book by clicking the ‘Community Photo book’ button at the beginning of the photo book creation process, or you can convert a personal photo book into a community photo book by clicking ‘Invite’ on the book builder and entering their email addresses. You can decide the number of pages that you wish to assign to each invited user, as well as the deadline by which the users should complete their contributions to the photo book.
